Sue began working in polymer clay in 1981 when she created a range of jewellery to sell in galleries and shops. Polymer clay was considered only a children's toy then and there were no books, no internet and no advice. She became one of the first people in the world to realise the amazing possibiliities of this material and has since worked in a wide range of polymer clay genres from jewellery and miniatures to doll-making and sculpture.

Sue first encountered silver metal clay at polymer clay conferences in the USA during the 1990's. Over the years it has become a major enthusiasm for her and she is constantly exploring new ways of working with this material. She was the first person to qualify as an Art Clay Silver Senior Instructor in the UK and has taken classes in Japan with the master instructors of Art Clay Silver. Her first book on the subject, Magical Metal Clay Jewellery is being hailed as highly innovative and has received excellent reviews.
